Several CGG attorneys recently attended the Virginia State Bar’s 77th Annual Meeting, held in Virginia Beach June 18-21, 2015. Heather Cooper, Dan Gray, Robert Worster, Nathan Olson, and Adele Garmirian traveled to Virginia Beach for the yearly gathering, which includes informative CLE’s, various meetings and receptions, athletic events, networking and socializing with colleagues, and the chance to enjoy the annual boardwalk art show and other local attractions.
This year, our attorneys were especially proud to attend the Young Lawyers Conference reception and annual meeting at the Sheraton Oceanfront, where Nathan Olson, as incoming YLC President, began his term by leading his first YLC annual meeting. The following morning, Nathan defeated the outgoing YLC President, Maureen Danker, in a spirited game of “Judiciary Squares,” a Showcase CLE based on the popular game show “Hollywood Squares.” Nine Judges and Justices from trial and appellate courts across the Commonwealth served as Squares, and contestants had to agree or disagree with answers to questions regarding Virginia law and ethics. Nathan and Dan also attended another popular and interesting CLE, Budding Issues: The Changing Marijuana Landscape. The weekend wrapped up with law school alumni breakfasts, raffles of a variety of adult’s and children’s prizes (no lucky CGG winners this year), and the annual David T. Stitt Memorial Volleyball Tournament on the beach. Our attorneys returned slightly suntanned and armed with knowledge of new developments in Virginia law. Overall, a wonderful time was had by all.
