Psychologist/Divorce Coach
Cooper Ginsberg Gray understands that divorce is a life-changing event for you and your family. It is important to know that you are not alone in this process. Our goal is to provide you with the necessary guidance, both legally and emotionally, during this difficult time. Our attorneys will provide you with the legal guidance and we are pleased to have Leah Nathan, Ph.D. on staff as a Psychologist/Divorce Coach to assist with the emotional guidance.
During the divorce process you will be making major decisions that will affect you for the rest of your life. Dr. Nathan focuses on the following skill sets when consulting with clients: informed decision-making strategies, resolving conflict constructively, developing resilience, managing emotions, creating a workable action plan towards achieving your goals, and envisioning the future to move forward and adapt to your new life. She understands that people going through divorce tend to lose confidence, become overwhelmed, experience indecisiveness, and feel immobilized. While you are on this emotional roller coaster, you may lose sight of your overall goals. Dr. Nathan can help you prioritize your goals and establish ways of accomplishing them. She is also here to help facilitate ways you can positively and effectively communicate with your spouse during the divorce process and beyond.
Divorce can be especially difficult if you have children. Children are often caught in the middle and are confused, sad, and scared. Children may experience a plethora of thoughts and emotions including fear, anger, worry, shame, hope for reconciliation, self-blame, embarrassment, and abandonment. Having worked with children for more than eight years, as well as being a mother of two, Dr. Nathan understands the verbal and non-verbal cues as well as the grief process that you and your children may experience as you navigate together through this complicated life event. Dr. Nathan strives to equip you with ways of providing a nurturing, secure, and safe environment for your children before, during, and after divorce. She may also be able to provide you valuable information on how to communicate with your children during the divorce process. Her most rewarding and gratifying encounters are reflected in helping families and seeing them through this difficult time in their lives.
Dr. Nathan practices mindfulness relaxation techniques and firmly believes that skills such as visualization and deep breathing coupled with a well thought out plan of action can ease the burden to you and your family of getting through this emotional process. By providing both legal and emotional guidance, Cooper Ginsberg Gray hopes that you find yourself becoming more empowered and motivated to handle the post-divorce chapters of your life. Empowering you with resources to enable you to have the strength to pursue a new direction is our ultimate priority.
Whether you are an existing client, or a new client, we believe that Dr. Nathan can be an asset to you. Should you like to find out more about how Dr. Nathan can assist you, please call our office at (703) 934-1480.
