FBA PARALEGAL SECTION’S VALENTINE’S DAY BOOK PROJECT – GIVE THE GIFT OF READING!

By Joanne B. Randa, CGG Senior Paralegal

Every year right around this time, the Paralegal Section of the Fairfax Bar Association and many supporters including CGG’s paralegals, attorneys, and staff, turn attentions to planning, promoting and executing the annual Valentine’s Day Project.

About the Paralegal Section of the Fairfax Bar Association’s Valentine’s Day Book Project

This project benefits the young people participating in the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court residential correctional programs.  The Fairfax Law Foundation promotes the project, and funds are collected to buy new books, journals and various hygiene products that the young men and women need.

Over the years, the young people have thanked the Section with homemade thank you notes that are heartfelt and even wise at times:

“I did think people will forget I’m locked up for almost a year.”

“It is nice to know that there are people out there that care about us.”

“It really means a lot to us because I don’t really get gifts so I appreciate it a lot.”

There are notes that are uplifting and inspirational and give us hope for a better future for the young people:

“I never owned a book until that day and yall inspired me to read more.”

“I know for a fact that I’ll read my books instead of going back to bad habits.  I’ll read to relieve stress.”

“I feel you care about my future.”

“It’s really nice that you’ll give us these things without expecting something back.”

“May God bless you for your deeds.”
