The attorneys and paralegals at Cooper Ginsberg Gray ended 2012 by attending two very worthwhile CLE seminars.
Stephanie, Adele and Rob participated in an interesting live webinar on evidentiary challenges in divorce cases. This legal education discussion covered traditional and electronic communications and the complicated issues in getting these communications introduced into evidence.
Christina attended a seminar on trial preparation hosted by The Institute for Paralegal Education. The seminar provided a closer look into paralegal responsibilities for trial preparation in order to maximize effectiveness.
Ms. Camille Crandall of Surovell Isaacs Petersen & Levy presented on the importance of discovery in preparation for trial and effectively using evidence at trial. Ms. Crandall discussed the growing use of technology in the courtroom and how this technology can be used to create powerful imagery for a judge and a jury.
Mr. Mark Schofield of Bonner Kierman Trebach & Crociata, LLP presented on the importance of preparing your witness for trial. He highlighted that there is no difference between preparing a witness for a deposition versus a trial. Both require significant time spent with the witness in order to prepare them adequately to present their knowledge of facts and circumstances surrounding a case. Mr. Schofield stressed the importance of treating every case as if it were going to trial. He concluded his presentation by stating “You can always settle the case you are ready to try, but you have a hard time trying a case you were preparing to settle.”
