Alexander T. Lewis

I dedicate my practice to assisting individuals and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. My practice focuses on all matters of family law, including separation and divorce, custody and visitation, child support and spousal support (alimony), division of marital property/equitable distribution, protective orders, and appeals. While I believe that most family law cases can and should be settled, I have extensive litigation experience and am prepared to advocate for my clients zealously.

I began my legal career serving as the law clerk to the Honorable Lorraine Nordlund in the Fairfax County Circuit Court. Prior to joining Cooper Ginsberg Gray PLLC, I worked at a boutique firm in Northern Virginia where I maintained an extensive and highly active caseload representing clients in family law matters and other complex litigation. My experience litigating multifaceted cases, coupled with my unique experience as a Circuit Court law clerk, enables me to be a devoted advocate for my clients.

When I am not practicing law, I dedicate time to volunteering with The Luv u Project, Inc., of which I am a co-founder and Director. The mission of The Luv u Project is to turn an unacceptable tragedy into a quantifiable agenda and responsible actions that advance the understanding of, and treatments for, mental health issues.

I work with The Luv u Project on several initiatives, including its partnership with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in establishing an advisory board of experts focused on workplace mental health and prevention. I also work on The Luv u Project’s initiative with the National Press Foundation for its annual Carolyn C. Mattingly Award for Mental Health Reporting, which has become the preeminent journalism award for excellence in mental health reporting. Most significantly, I dedicate a significant amount of time with The Luv u Project’s young professionals’ organization, uLead, which brings together young professionals with the purpose of understanding, educating, and addressing the stigma associated with mental health issues. You can find out more about The Luv u Project and uLead at www.theluvuproject.org.
