Another billion dollar divorce is underway, this time in Russia, that makes the Harold Hamm divorce seem like small potatoes. In the Hamm case, the issue was whether the $975,000,000 dollar settlement was fair to the oil tycoon’s ex-wife. In the case of Vladimir Potanin, and his wife Natalia, the amount sought is more than seven times greater. The Moscow couple’s assets total nearly $15,000,000,000. Natalia, who was married to Vladimir for 30 years, is seeking half of these assets, which could make it the world’s largest ever divorce awards. Vladimir’s attorney states that a significant property award plus a $250,000 monthly allowance is more than equitable. Natalia disagrees, and the parties are currently in litigation spanning several countries to attempt to determine what property is subject to division. This should be a very interesting legal battle with my twists and turns to come. Stay tuned… http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/08/news/russia-richest-man-divorce/index.html
